FAQ
What is the difference between Toshiba CE4M and CF3 printheads?
Both are industrial Toshiba printheads, but they target different printing requirements. The CE4M is mainly used in UV flatbed printers for materials such as glass, ceramic tiles, acrylic, metal, and decorative panels, with 636 nozzles and 5–35 pl grayscale droplets. CF3 is designed for cylindrical, irregular, and high-gap printing, with a single-row 300 npi nozzle layout, a minimum drop size of about 3.4 pl, and ink circulation near the nozzles. CF3 is also well suited to white and high-viscosity UV inks.
What is the difference between Toshiba CF1, CF3, and CF3R printheads?
These models are designed for different industrial applications. CF1 is mainly used for labels, packaging, paper, film, and single-pass printing, with a drop range of approximately 6–42 pl. CF3 focuses on cylindrical, irregular-surface, high-gap, and white-ink applications, while its circulation system helps maintain stable ink delivery near the nozzles. CF3R is an enhanced version designed for demanding production environments, with improved cooling and circulation performance. The best choice depends on the substrate, ink type, print distance, and required ink coverage.
What ink types are compatible with Toshiba printheads?
Toshiba printheads support different ink systems depending on the model. They can be used with UV, oil-based, solvent, and, for certain configurations, water-based inks. Compatibility should not be determined by ink category alone; factors such as viscosity, surface tension, pigment particle size, operating temperature, chemical compatibility, and drive waveform also need to match the printhead.
What applications are Toshiba printheads suitable for?
Toshiba printheads are used across a broad range of industrial printing applications. CE4M is commonly found in UV flatbed printing for building materials and signage; CF3 is suitable for cylindrical, irregular, high-gap, and white-ink printing; the CF1 series is designed for labels, packaging, and single-pass production. CA5 targets fine-detail, small-droplet applications, while the CK1 series is better suited to large-droplet and high-coverage printing.
